Some Moodle sites use Turnitin or similar tools to check for originality. The submission process looks similar to a normal assignment but includes an additional originality check.
Steps
- Open your course and locate the relevant Turnitin assignment (usually indicated by the Turnitin logo or “Turnitin Assignment” in the title).
- Select the activity to read the submission instructions and deadline.
- Select Submit Paper or Add Submission.
- Upload your file — Turnitin usually accepts Word, PDF, or text-based documents.
- Select Add Submission or Submit to confirm.
- Once processed, you’ll see an Originality Report percentage (if your tutor allows you to view it).
Tips
- If you receive an error message, check file size and format.
- You can usually resubmit before the deadline; the system will replace your previous file.
- Originality reports may take several minutes to appear.
Note: Some organisations integrate Turnitin within the standard Moodle assignment tool, while others use a dedicated Turnitin activity - the screens may vary slightly.
