How to Unenrol from a Course

Modified on Thu, 11 Dec, 2025 at 8:55 AM

Some Moodle sites allow learners to remove themselves from courses; others restrict this to administrators.

Steps (if self-unenrolment is enabled)

  1. Log in to the Moodle site.
  2. Go to the course you wish to leave.
  3. In the Course administration area (often found in a menu on the left or under a settings cog ⚙️), select Unenrol me from [course name].
  4. Confirm when prompted.

If you don’t see the option

  • Your site may not permit self-unenrolment.
  • Contact your site administrator and request removal, stating your full name and the course title.

Note: Once you unenrol, you may lose access to your grades and course materials. Always make sure you’ve downloaded any certificates or completed work first.
